The Watch

Bovet traces its history to the early 19th century, 1822, to be exact, when it was founded by the three Bovet brothers in Fleurier, Switzerland. After one of them took a trip to China, the manufacture began specializing in producing ornate gold watches, highly decorated with engraving, enamel, and gems, specifically for that expanding export market. The brand faded out of existence for a bit after the quartz crisis of the 1970s and '80s but was recently revived and is making watches in that same over-the-top historic style to very high standards.

What makes this watch truly special are the little details of the case and dial. The lugs are the Cornes de Vache (cow horn) style, like a number ohistoric Vacheron Constantin watches.

The Condition

This is a stunner!

This  watch is very well preserved and in a beautiful condition despite the age. The original dial is beautiful with signs of ageing but no damage. The red telemeter scale is intact and the original hands (and second hand) is still there and so is the "swiss" at 6. The crystal got small signs and have been polished at some point.

The case is well preserved as you can see with just small marks and the "fancy lugs" are beautiful. There are small signs of chrome but compared to many similiar watches, this really is a well preserved case. The crown is, as you can see, a bit worn.

The watch really is as nice as it looks in the pictures.
