The Watch
You probably know about the Universal Geneve ”compax” and the ”Polerouter”, but did you know about the ”Compact”-model? Universal Geneve did a, for the time, super thin movement with Movado, the ”super-Micro” cal. 256. Here you go!
Universal Genéve was founded in 1894 by Numa-Emile Descombes and Ulysse Perret. It was the company to release the first wrist-worn chronograph in 1917, at a time when wristwatches were considered a novelty amongst gentlemen.
Gerald Genta, ever heard of him? He’s the Swiss designer that created both Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak and Patek Philippe’s Nautilus. Before these creations he, at the young age of 23, started his first big hit for a little company - Universal Geneve. He began designing the watch that would, one day, be the most iconic watch the brand would ever produce, the Polerouter.
