The Watch
In 1943 Rolex decided to introduce a larger version of the bubbelback. This “new” watch was powered by a perpetual version of the classic 10-½”. Later on Rolex made two additions to the movement: a sweep seconds hand and a date disc visible at 3. This was the first step to the datejust model.
The most dramatic change happened in 1954 when Rolex introduced the cyclops date magnifier at Basel. This little bump in the crystal enabled the wearer to see the date more clearly and has since become a signature for the Rolex line.
The stainless 1601 Datejust was introduced around 1962 and has proven to be one of the most popular models Rolex ever produced.

The Condition
Very good case that has previously been polished and has some wear from use. The watch comes with a white gold fluted bezel. Caseback is stamped: 1601 / 64.
The bracelet is a swiss 6251 folded-link Jubilee bracelet with 23 links and 55 end links and got the “big crown” clasp. Bracelet has average stretch for its age.
This vintage Datejust wristwatch has an excellent silver dial with original dial hands. The crystal got some signs of use.
