The Watch
The Seamasters was launched in 1948 and have achieved worldwide fame for their rugged reliability. The Seamaster family had its origins in the watches supplied to the British Airforce during the second world war. In 1954, 50 cases equipped with O-ring gaskets were submitted to a succession of extremely severe tests, both in the factory and at the Swiss Laboratory for Watchmaking Reswarch. Each case perfectly resisted pressures of 6 kg/cm2 (corresponding to a depth of 60 metres) and temperatures from -40 C to +50 C, all without showing any trace of water infiltration or humidity.
Here is a very rare oversized beefy lugs vintage Omega Seamaster watch. This particular case style is known as the "beefy" or "fat lugs" case, and they are commonly seen in 34mm case size. However, this particular one is the seldom seen oversized version measuring 36.3mm in diameter excluding the crown by 44mm lug tip to lug tip. Making this timepiece 2mm wider and 2mm longer compared to the regular model.
The factory dial on this piece is also very attractive and resemble the 2018 reissued 1948 Seamaster watch dial as well.
