The Watch
The Seamasters was launched in 1948 and have achieved worldwide fame for their rugged reliability. The Seamaster family had its origins in the watches supplied to the British Airforce during the second world war. In 1954, 50 cases equipped with O-ring gaskets were submitted to a succession of extremely severe tests, both in the factory and at the Swiss Laboratory for Watchmaking Reswarch. Each case perfectly resisted pressures of 6 kg/cm2 (corresponding to a depth of 60 metres) and temperatures from -40 C to +50 C, all without showing any trace of water infiltration or humidity.

The Condition
We have always been fans of the early 1950's Omega Seamasters with the more robust "beefy lugs-case" and automatic movement. This 2849 is a "beefy lugs"-case in nice condition that have some signs of use as you can see in the pictures. The crown is original for the reference. The dial is the most spectacular part of this watch - a creamy original dial with golden index and date function. The dial got some signs of ageing and patina which gives the watch the look that we appreciate in a vintage Omega from the 1950's. In our opinion - it can´t be much better!
