The Watch

It all starts with a request from the former airline Pan-Am for a proper pilot watch that was capable of displaying an extra timezone. A watch that would be useful for pilots on transatlantic flights, adding an extra timezone would make this timepiece perfect. Pan-Am inquired at Rolex, and they came up with the GMT-Master. A watch with chronometer specifications aswell as displaying an additional timezone.

The Rolex GMT Master 1675 was launched in 1959. The watch was made in stainless steel and topped with the characteristic Pepsi bezel, the ref. 1675 is one of the most sought-after vintage Rolex tool watches today. Produced from 1959 until 1980, the GMT-Master 1675 was one of the longest running references in Rolex’s history.

The Condition

This is an honest 1675 watch with lovely character. The dial is a matted Mark2 with lovely and true patina. There has been some small drops of lume in index 4, 7 and 8. The dial is original and so is also the hands with matching patina. Silver datedisc with open 6/9. The case has probably been polished long ago, it got some signs of wear. The insert is a fade thin font. The jubilee bracelet is in nice condition but got of course some strech like all vintage jubilee-bracelets have.
