The Watch

The Seamasters was launched in 1948 and have achieved worldwide fame for their rugged reliability. The Seamaster family had its origins in the watches supplied to the British Airforce during the second world war. In 1954, 50 cases equipped with O-ring gaskets were submitted to a succession of extremely severe tests, both in the factory and at the Swiss Laboratory for Watchmaking Reswarch. Each case perfectly resisted pressures of 6 kg/cm2 (corresponding to a depth of 60 metres) and temperatures from -40 C to +50 C, all without showing any trace of water infiltration or humidity.

The Condition

A classic Seamaster model, the Ref. 166.002 was first released in 1962 and the present example dates to 1963, so this is a early one.

The watch has a flawless sunburst dial with applied indexes and beautiful hands with creamy patina. The dial is as you can see very well preserved with just small signs of ageing.

Cased in a gold on steel case with faceted lugs and a screw-down back centred with the Omega Seahorse emblem. The case got some signs of use and two small dings on the left side but is in an overall beautiful condition.

This is an automatically wound model which is powered by Omega’s excellent calibre 562. The movement is professional serviced and ready to be used for many years.
