The Watch
What do Charles de Gaulle, Dwight D. Eisenhower and Winston Chruchill got in common? They all wear watches from LIP. In 1813 Emmanuel Lipman and his sons founded a clockwork workshop under the name of Comptoir Lipmann. In 1893 it became the Société Anonyme d'Horlogerie Lipmann Frères.
They company back then made stopwatches, but in the same time as they changed thier name to just LIP (about 1897-98) they also made pocket watches and later on wristwatches. The company launched the first electronic watch in 1952, called "Electronic".
