The Watch

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day Date debuted in 1956 by being the first automatic, waterproofed chronometerwatch that fully indicated both date and weekday. The new inovative daycalendar can be found in several languages. We can through catalogues and leaflets find that the daycalendar was offered in 11 languages in 1963, 24 languages in 1979, 25 languages in 1985 and in 2018 the watch was offered in 26 languages.

Rolex Day Date was originally avaliable in 18 carat gold and platinum and could be found together with the "President Bracelet". This amazing watch was the first one to have the text "Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified" (COSC) on the dial.

During the 1960s the reference Rolex Day Date 1803 starts to appear in the Rolex catalogues and it soon became the reference that most people associates with Day Date.

Caliber 1555 was produced between 1959 and 1967 and was followed up by caliber 1556. In 1971 the cal. 1556 got a little boost when it was given the hack stop second function.
