The Jean Richard AQUASTAR is more than just a watch - it even is a tool. The JR AQUASTAR was the watch to be worn at the first deep dive ever made in history – the DeepSea Challenge descending to the Mariana Trench – worn by Don Walsh.
But that's not enough, it is also the first watch to be equipped with a slim designed lollipop second hand. This hand was copied by Omega in 1959 as the second version of the Speedmaster with reference CK2998 was released. And on the topic of Omega, the AQUASTAR was designed by Frédéric Robert who was chief designer at JeanRichard Geneve and later hijacked to Omega.
The JR AQUASTAR was only produced in a very limited period of time stretching from 1958 to 1962. It was among the first dive watches with a bidiagonal bezel or at least the first company applying for patent on a bidiagonal bezel. The patent applied was approved for the JeanRichard Geneve AquaStar 60 model.

This watch not only offers an exceptional history but also a genuinly nice shaping and design. The clear black dial is in very nice condition with nicely patinated tritium index. The lollipop hand still has their original lume and are without damages. The bi-directional bezel is original and works perfectly.
The case is in good condition with sharp edges. There are some signs of wear in the case back but what to expect from a watch that's more than 60 years old. The plexi got some light, thin scratches. At the bottom with fifth index the crystal got a small mark.
We can't offer any service history on the watch but it is thoroughly tested and functions perfectly with good timekeeping and long powerreserve.
We always recomend to pressure test before you use it in water since we don´t test that function and can´t give any warranties for waterproofing.
